AQUAPOLIS

A la surface d’un bassin, repose un Aquarium dans lequel des poissons évoluent dans une ville futuriste idéale. Les bâtiments et buildings sont figurés par des objets de plastiques recyclables, emballages de consommation courante tel que bouteilles d’eau, boîtes d’œufs… Les poissons nagent dans les hauteurs de la ville, à la façon de vaisseaux spatiaux.
Les trois éléments qui compose cette ville - l’eau , les poissons, les objets recyclables en plastiques – bien qu’ils soient de nature différentes, sont tous transparents.
Les poissons expérimentent, au jour du vernissage, cet idéal de transparence. Les infrastructures de leur ville sont transparentes, eux même semblent s’être adaptés à leur environnement.
Au cours de l’exposition l’opacité réapparaît. Les algues polluent la transparence. La ville pert son idéal. La transparence est fascinante, presque mystique, mais concrètement, il lui faut bien de l’entretien et des améliorations, pour la rendre vivable.

AQUAPOLIS
Exactly at the surface of a basin rests an Aquarium in which fish evolve through an ideal futuristic city. The buildings of this city are made out of recyclable plastic objects, packagings from daily life such as water bottles, egg boxes, etc. The fish swim in the heights of the city, like spaceships.
The three elements constitutive of this city - water, fish, objects which can be recycled out of plastics - although of different nature, are all transparent.
On the opening day, the fish experience this ideal of transparency. The infrastructure of their city is transparent, and it is as though they had adapted to their environment in becoming also transparent. But during the show, opacity reappears: seaweeds pollute transparency; the city looses its ideal aspect. Transparency is attractive, almost mystical, but in practical terms, to make it liveable, it requires too much maintenance and cleaning.
