Sea freshness, 2009

Polyester resin / 250 x 130 x 60 cm

Anglet Coastal Contemporary Art Biennial #3, invited by Didier Arnaudet.

A monumental air freshener, installed in a natural setting, plays the absurd role of an artificial lung in a sick environment. The air freshener has no scent, yet its presence creates an olfactory illusion. The natural marine scent of the site seems strangely to come from the air freshener. Throning majestically atop a rock, while its appearance and color attempt to make it invisible, the artifact returns us to our ambivalent desires for the natural and the artificial.
